Bozeman, MT Engagement Session: Annie + Colter

May 14, 2019

Our theory for engagement sessions is to do them around something that makes the couple unique. That way the images just make sense, and can heighten the meaning of the couple in them. In this instance for Annie and Colter, we found a connection to ranch life in Montana, something his family has been a part of for generations.

Some sessions, some couples, some experiences are golden from the beginning.

From the moment this Bozeman engagement session started, I knew we were in for an amazing adventure. I mean, what session wouldn’t get off on the right foot when you start at the local brewery first? The answer is none.

Our theory for engagement sessions is to do them around something that makes the couple unique. That way the images just make sense, and can heighten the meaning of the couple in them. In this instance for Annie and Colter, we found a connection to ranch life in Montana, something his family has been a part of for generations.

Their story included a secluded piece of ground, tucked between the highway and the interstate, where the only photo bombers have four legs and taste like steak (or venison as you’ll see in the photos). There, hand in hand, was a love on display as pure as the Montana earth we stood on.

We bounced down a little two track road in a 4x4 flatbed truck, spools of barbed wire and bailing twine secured on the back; a true working ranch truck. We passed through barbed wire gates, making sure to not let the cattle back track through, in search of the light that makes your soul glow. We were chasers of light, all so we could watch a love story unfold in front of the lens.

When chatting with your photographer about your engagement photos, make sure to tell them your story. How did you meet? What makes you tick? Why this one person, out of 7 billion? Tell them a story, and let them write that story in your images.
